Day 19 - Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

I really don't know what to write on these days. One of the attractions of a blogging-by-numbers scheme is that I don't have to think about what to post. I'll attempt to give it a go, though.

I'm really apprehensive about my upcoming move. I feel a combination of excitement and fear: what if I don't get a job? What if I don't succeed? What if I don't make any money and have to come back? All of those possibilities, while swirling through my head, probably aren't likely. Everything, I know, will be fine: with enough effort and willpower, anything can happen. It's still something scary, though, to root up your home for the past several years and go out on your own with...nothing.

I'm definitely excited about the process of moving and the journey out west. Laura, my awesome girlfriend, will be accompanying me on a quest throughout the United States. We're going to spend a month hopping from location to location all throughout the country. I know, without a doubt, that it will be one of the best times of my life. I almost wish I could just travel without EVER having to go back to "real life".

But, of course, that can't happen. Real life always beckons...but I will be somewhere new. Somewhere exciting, experiencing new things every day. THAT is what excites me so much. And, ultimately, excitement always conquers fear.

Wow. That was easy. Why have I been putting this off for so long?

Day 18 - Set or share a goal

I have a LOT of goals at this point in my life. But here's one that's immediate and definite: find a job and make a life in San Francisco. I'm giving up everything, loading my car, and driving out there with a beautiful girl in a few days. I've spruced up my resume, but I just need to circle it around and look for something.

Another goal: save for Australia in 2012! Not only will the world end, but I'll be eating kangaroo meat. It's actually a myth that water swirls the other way. Coreolis effect don't work like that.

Final goal: get my degree!!

Day 17 - A photo that makes you sad

Yes, I know it's cliche. Half of the Western world probably chooses this photo.

I love you, Laura!

Day 16 - Celebrity Crushes

I can't really be bothered to get photos, and I'm old enough not to have them. Anyway...

  • Zooey Deschanel
  • Morgan Webb (from the ol' TechTV days!)
  • Natalie Portman (hey, Star Wars and Harvard)
  • Your mom
  • The Queen of England. That ass just won't QUIT!

Day 15 - A letter to someone I would like to meet

It's been a while!!! So...here goes...

Dear Jesus

So, assuming you're even real...wow. Nice to get a chance to meet with you. I should say beforehand that you make it BIG here in the future! A lot of people are your fans...I, however, am not one. The history of the movement you've started is really quite amazing. Not only have you built nations, but your religion was singlehandedly used as justification for some of the most amazing feats of colonization and atrocious genocides in the history of our species. I just thought you should know.

The real reason I want to meet you, however, has nothing to do with the future of the beast you have created. Your name is one of the most used and abused in the world today. I want to humanize you. To see the man, if such a man even exists, behind the myth. I want to know what you think--what ANY human would think--when you realize the effects your actions had on the future. Not that I hold any ill will toward you. Were you a madman? A fool? Deluded? A liar? What's so special about you that caused YOU to make it and nobody else?

Anyway, Jesus...good luck? I don't know. Maybe you could teach science rather than sky monsters.
